Fondazione CinemaO invites emerging curators to develop screening-based programmes at its Milan venue. Selected curators present a series of at least three works with thoughtful conceptual connections, supported by a workshop on audience design and distribution and three months of daytime workspace access. The selection committee for the 2026 edition includes Chiara Agradi (Fondation Cartier), Maike Mia Höhne (Kurzfilmfestival Hamburg), and Insolente (Tea Paci & Valentina Manzoni).

Film Independent

Film Independent runs two documentary labs: a Story Lab for directors and a Producing Lab for producers. Each selects six fellows for intensive mentorship and development with established documentary professionals. The Story Lab focuses on late-production/early post-production with workshops, one-on-one mentoring from Creative and Editing Advisors, and a pitch event. The Producing Lab includes professional coaching, case studies with experienced producers, and networking opportunities.

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts / Creative Capital

The Arts Writers Grant supports both emerging and established writers producing quality writing about contemporary visual art. Funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation and administered by Creative Capital, the programme awards grants across four categories: articles, books, short-form writing, and translation (a new category introduced in 2026 supporting English translations of books about contemporary visual art).

Headlands Center for the Arts

Headlands Center for the Arts occupies a stunning former military base in the Marin Headlands, just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. The programme awards fully funded residencies to approximately 50 artists each year. Residents benefit from private studios, communal chef-prepared meals, and an extraordinary natural setting that fosters deep creative focus.

National Endowment for the Arts

The National Endowment for the Arts awards project-based grants across all artistic disciplines including Visual and Media Arts. While grants go to organisations rather than individuals, many funded projects directly support emerging artists through exhibitions, commissions, and residencies.

The Corporation of Yaddo

Opens: November · Closes: January

Yaddo is a legendary artists' community in Saratoga Springs, New York, which has hosted creative residents since 1926. Visual artists receive a private studio and bedroom along with three daily meals, allowing for uninterrupted focus. Past residents include a remarkable roster of painters, sculptors, and photographers who have shaped contemporary art.
