MacDowell Fellowship
About this opportunity
MacDowell is one of the foremost artist residency programmes in the United States, set on 450 acres in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Approximately 300 fellowships are awarded each year across seven disciplines. Residents receive a private studio, meals delivered to their door, and uninterrupted time to focus on their work.
Application tips
Visual arts applicants should submit eight images of recent work completed within the last four years. Two of these may be detail shots or installation views. The application for fall 2026 and winter 2027 residencies closes on 10 February 2026, with results communicated in mid-May. The next deadline is 10 September 2026 for spring/summer 2027 residencies (applications open 15 August 2026). No application fee.
